The Symposium Committee

Over the past years the Business Night Committee and the Food for Thought Committee have been too separate entities, this year however, they will be combined into the Symposium Committee!

The Symposium Committee will be responsible for organizing the yearly Business Night in April. The Business Night is one of Asset’s largest events, as well as being the grand opening of the Economic Business weeks Tilburg (EBT). The evening aims at broadening students’ vision by having inspiring speakers share their stories. With prominent speakers and leaders in their areas of expertise, the Business Night is a unique opportunity to go beyond academic knowledge and get inspired by their diverse experiences.

Besides the Business Night, The Symposium Committee will also be responsible for organising the monthly Food for Thought sessions throughout the academic year. During these sessions, prominent speakers and leaders from the business, political and societal environment, will be interviewed about their areas of expertise. The Food for Thought sessions will consist of  live/on campus sessions, as well as potential streamed interviews with the aforementioned guest speakers.

As a member of The Symposium Committee you will continuously contribute to the organization of the Business Night and Food for Thought. You will be in charge of approaching and inviting interesting and guest speakers for the monthly Food for Thought sessions. You will further be responsible for the vision and themes of this event, operational tasks, promotion and. Simultaneously, you will work towards the Business Night by defining a theme, approaching interesting speakers and convincing companies to engage in sponsorships. In addition to the preparatory practices, you as a committee member are responsible for the program and operational processes regarding the Business Night.

During past editions of the Business Night, we were pleased to welcome speakers such as Tiny Sanders (former CEO Campina and PSV), Henk Valk (CEO Philips Benelux), Jeroen Dijsselbloem (former politician and Chairman of the Eurogroup) and Stephanie Hottenhuis (CEO KPMG Netherlands). Examples of speakers that participated in Food for Thought sessions  are amongst others: Ralph Hamers (CEO ING), Floris van Bommel (Entrepreneur), Erwin Dito (CEO McDonald’s Netherlands) Andrew Fastow (former CEO Enron).
