Information and communication technology (ICT) is no longer used just to support business activities, but has become an enabler of (new) business strategies.
As the MSc Information Management programme is taught at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the role of ICT as strategy enabler is at the core of this programme. Students learn about the latest developments in the field of ICT, and how these insights can be used to achieve a company's general strategy. Special attention is paid to the design of new types of organisations and virtual cooperation through the Internet. The programmme also discusses ways in which ICT can be used to design and improve inter en intra organisational supply chains, and to innovate in marketing processes and product development. In addition, students learn how companies can apply ICT to formulate and achieve their goals on the strategic, tactical and operational level, also known as "Business-IT Alignment". In short, Information Management studies topics at the intersection of ICT and business administration, a problem area every organisation has to deal with in the current knowledge based economy.
