In his current position he is responsible for the supervision of the Dutch financial market. In times of crisis it is very important that consumers and entrepeneurs have trust in the market, otherwise the market will collapse. On the 6^th of December we will discuss how we will conquer this crisis and which role the AFM plays in this.Before he became Chairman of the AFM, Gerritse held the position of Secretary General at the Dutch Ministry of Finance since 2003. Since 2008 combining this function with the position of Treasurer of the same Ministry. Before that, he was the Secretary General of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (1996-2003) and General Secretary of the Dutch Social Economic Council (SER) (1990-1996).
