Mathijs Bouman, a Dutch economist and journalist, was our guest on the 7th of Februari 2012. Bouman is an allround economist and has his own style. He is very critical, but has the quality to explain very difficult topics to everybody. Because he is a journalist and an economist and had various jobs, and therefore he will be interviewed about very different topics. -Short selling: Is short selling morally reprehensible? Is it dangerous for economic growth in the long term? -What is the role of rating offices? Do they damage consumer confidence? -Media: The cause of the crisis?!
After Bouman got promotion he worked at different universities and he also was the deputy editor for FEM business. Between 2003 and 2005 he worked at the Dutch Bank as an assistant for Nout Wellink. After that he worked as a journalist for RTL Z, and is often guest at discussion programs such as, Pauw en Witteman, De wereld draait door and RTL news. In 2006 he published a book, called "Hollandse overmoed", where he analysed how it is possible that the Dutch economy is declining. Later, in 2010 he published his second book called: "De Elektrische Spijkerbroek, en andere avonturen in de economie". Furtermore he is columnist for "Het Financieel Dagblad".
