On March 6, Rijkman Groenink, former CEO of ABN-Amro and boardmember of Oranje-Nassau Energie B.V., will be present at the next Food for Thought interview. The interview will take place at 12.45h in the Blackbox in building E.

Rijkman Willem Johan Groenink (born Den Helder, 25 August 1949) is a Dutch banker. He is best known as the CEO of the Dutch bank ABN AMRO at the time that the bank was sold to a consortium of banks. The consortium was led by the Royal Bank of Scotland, Fortis and Banco Santander in 2007.
He studied law at the Utrecht University and has also a degree Business Administration from the Manchester Business School.
In 1974 he joined the bank's predecessor AMRO Bank (Amsterdam-Rotterdam Bank) and he made a quick career within the bank. In 1988 he became member of the board of directors of the AMRO bank and when the Amro merged with the Algemene Bank Nederland (ABN) in 1990 Groenink became member of the board of the new group ABN AMRO. In the groups board Groenink was responsible for the division the Netherlands. In May 2001 Groenink was appointed as chair if the board as successor of Jan Kalff.

The fifth Food for Thought session is coming up! On March 1 Klaas Knot will be our next guest! He currently is the President of the Dutch Central Bank so he is a man with a lot of responsibilities, especially regarding the Euro crisis which we are in right now.
Of course we are going to talk about this crisis and what can be done about it. Also, what is the role of international institutions such as the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund? Does increasing supervision on the banking sector have added value or does it only look good on paper?
This and much more will be discussed during the interview. You will also be able to ask our guest questions. The interview will be held in the Black Box in the Esplanade Building on March 1 at 12:45. Everyone is invited to come!
So forget about your exams, assignments or thesis for 45 minutes and come to our interview! You will not regret it. See you then!


Ronald Doeswijk – 05-02-13

Ronald DoeswijkOn February 5, Ronald Doeswijk, chief strategist at Robeco and columnist at 'Het Financieel Dagblad', will be present at the next Food for Thought interview. The interview will take place in the Blackbox in building E.

Ronald Doeswijk (1970) is Chief Strategist at Robeco. He is a seasoned economics and asset allocation professional. In addition to his career in the asset management industry, Ronald Doeswijk has strong links with the academic world. He has authored a range of academic articles on strategic and tactical asset allocation, which have appeared in publications such as the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Journal of Wealth Management, the International Review of Financial Analysis and the Journal of Investing. He is one of the most downloaded academic authors in the world.


Koen Becking – 28-11-12

Koen BeckingThe second Food for Thought session only recently finished and our next guest is already scheduled. This time it is a very special one. His name is Koen Becking and since Oktober 1 he is the new President of the Executive Board of Tilburg University. Formerly he was managing director at KRO; a famous broadcasting company for national television.

Koen Becking also wrote a book on leadership so we wonder how he managed to do this and what his vision on leadership is. On top of that we want to know how he will direct the university and in what direction. In other words: Does the current slogan, Understanding Society, fit to the mindset of Koen Becking?

We will find out on the 28th of November in the “Kleine Foyer” Located in the Cobbenhagen building. The interview will start at 12:45. It’s during lunch and you can freely walk in.


Lloyd Kurtz – 08-11-12

Lloyd KurtzWe are very pleased to announce that on Thursday the 8th of November Lloyd Kurtz will be present at the second Food for Thought interview of this academic year. The interview will take place in the Black Box in building E.

Lloyd Kurtz is a lecturer of social investing at Berkeley University but on top of that also the Chief Investment Officer at Nelson Capital Management. Mr. Kurtz oversees the investment process and manages portfolios for institutional and high net worth clients at Nelson Capital. Next to that he is the founder of the prestigious Moskowitz Prize, which is handed out every year to the best research/researcher in the field on Socially Responsible Investing.


Jaqcueline Zuidweg – 11-10-13

Jacqueline ZuidwegOn October 11th Jacqueline Zuidweg, Business Woman of the Year 2012, will be present at the first Food for Thought interview of the new academic year. From this year onwards, the interviews will take place in the Black Box in building E.

Jacqueline Zuidweg is the owner of the company Zuidweg & Partners B.V which has the mission to set up and execute national, high quality debt assistance for entrepreneurs and ex-entrepreneurs. She wants to help SME’s with affordable, reliable help since one out of ten entrepreneurs have serious financial problems.
